As a quilt enthusiast, I get a total kick out of gabbing about fabrics, sharing my projects and the history of this craft. So, let's join forces!   • Bessie Pearl

    Have you ever wanted to try curved piecing. Curves add a beautiful design element to your quilts, going beyond straight lines. Together we will learn fabric selection, cutting and sewing with templates to make a pillow or quilt top in the size you choose.

  • Quilt Labels

    It all begins with an idea for a quilt, but needs to end with your signature. Quilt labels come in all shapes and sizes, using different techniques. Together we will discover ways to add that special touch as you finish your quilt.

  • Special Edge Finishes

    Not every quilt, pillow or project needs to be finished with a binding. Together we will discover many choices for finishing, beginning with ruffles, scallops, prairie points and more.

  • Hiring & Preparing for Longarm Quilting

    Your quilt top is finished and you want to have it quilted by a longarm quilter. We will go over all the details of preparing your quilt top (and backing) to be quilted and how to have the best experience ever.

  • Learning to EPP

    Do you EPP yet? English Paper Piecing is a fun, relaxing and portable sewing project that opens up a new world of quilting possibilities. Together we will learn all the details from choosing the patterns and method, preparing fabrics and pieces, templates or not, fussy cutting - everything A-Z. This is a fun, easy class that does not require a sewing machine.

  • Sweet Sunbonnets

    Together we will learn a variety of applique techniques to prepare to make the Sweetest Sunbonnet Sue quilt. The pattern techniques include applique, patchwork and adding borders.

  • T-Shirt Quilt

    After collecting and saving more T-Shirts than you can count, it’s time to take those memories and make a quilt to be enjoyed today and well into the future. In this class we will learn several techniques and design options to make a beautiful T-Shirt Quilt.

  • Topsfield Fair Quilt

    Named after the oldest county fair in the United States, the Topsfield Fair Quilt is a design that fits many styles. We will learn about color and fabric placement, work with cutting and sewing templates and master Y seams. Putting all these techniques together will have you winning your own blue ribbons.

  • Heirloom Flowers

    If you love the traditional hand sewn Flower Garden design, but do not think you have the time to devote to it, the Heirloom Flowers Quilt is just for you. With the English Paper Piecing flowers centered in a chain background, you will be able to finish a stunning quilt in record time. We will learn a few hand piecing methods along with the tools and techniques to make English Paper Piecing fit with your quilting style. And who knows, you may catch the flower garden bug and tackle a long-term, slow stitching quilt.

More Quilt and Technique Class Options

  • Nine Patch and Quilt Facing

    A simple nine patch block, repeated with your favorite prints or solids and a background of your choice will make a quilt that is always striking. This is destined to be a favorite! Along with strip piecing and cutting techniques, together we will work on adding a faced binding with straight, triangles or mitred corners.

  • Topeka's Rose

    Together we will prepare and learn methods for applique by hand or machine. Methods demonstrated for preparing the applique: pieces: interfacing, fusible, freezer and applique paper methods along with sewing by hand or machine: needle turn, turned edge, zig zag, straight stitch or blanket stitch. We will choose fabrics and have you ready to make a pillow or quilt top.

  • Schoolhouse

    Schoolhouse quilts are part of our American quilt history. Together we will learn more about their history while we prepare a striking design. We will go over color and prints for a traditional one block quilt, cutting and sewing with a mix of rotary cutting and templates and share examples of quilt label and finishing options.

  • Block of the Month Style

    Once you learn the basic of rotary cutting and sewing a scant 1/4” seam, one of the best way to learn new tips, tricks and techniques is through a block of the month program. To tackle EPP, FPP, inset circles, curved piecing, Y-seams and everything in-between, a sampler style block of the month lets you sample and learn while making a stunning quilt. This class, if local, can be scheduled on a monthly basis or as a kick off event making one, two or a few blocks before the monthly blocks are scheduled and sent. Come quilt with me!
